Description
We have encountered the Neinzul before, but never like this. All we have ever seen is their vanguard; their young, their hunters. We have never encountered the full central might of their civilization... until now.
For that matter, we've previously encountered a race calling themselves the Obscura -- in a far-off cataclysm. They were always mysterious and distant, and never seemed to be a threat inside the Milky Way itself. That may soon change, and we may even have to do something so extreme as team up with our own rogue artificial intelligence against this larger threat.
Despite these adversities, we are resuming our role of explorers. Some have claimed that we humans have lost our edge. That all we do is scavenge from the machines, and from the further inventions of our own AI children. We have built something that no other race can boast: they may start as only prototypes, but our new Champions will grow strong as they delve into the fifth dimension and discover the mysteries within. It's a pretty safe bet that no one else lives there...

Features
- Champions make a return from the original AI War, as both a mode to play on your own, or a role for one or more players in multiplayer. Rather than exploring mere nebulas, this time we're heading into higher-dimensional space and back.
- The Obscura, seen only briefly as a plague upon the races in The Last Federation, make their debut in the Milky Way. We are in no way equipped to fight them on our own, so we may have to set aside old grudges in order to survive.
- The Neinzul also finally return from the original AI War, but this time they have their full civilization hivemind intact. Rather than an errant expeditionary force, we find ourselves meeting the most human-like of all the alien races we've encountered so far in this galaxy.
- Two new map types.
- Optional Roguelike features! Ironman mode, hidden galaxy (discover as you go), and random factions. Playing with some or all of these gives a completely different AI War experience!
